Wild Bill’s’ Tanapon Unsa and World Resort’s Daniel Agulto topped the Golden Boot race in their respective divisions in the spring season of the M-League.

Unsa had the most goals in Division 1, collecting 23 in 10 games. The Kagman High School student was the lone player in the entire league to knock in at least 20 goals as his closest pursuer—Sean Perez of spring champion Tan Holdings Football Club—tallied only 13. Unsa pulled away from Perez after making it to the board in Wild Bill’s last three games in the double-round robin competition.

Joining Unsa and Perez on the list of players who logged goals in twin digits was another Tan Holdings striker—Martin Jambor. Jambor gained 10 goals, reaching the double-digit mark in Tan Holdings’ last game of the season, as he drilled the pair of goals in their 2-0 win over Inter Godfather’s and handed his squad the Division 1 spring championship early this month.

Meanwhile, six other Division 1 players recorded at least four goals each in the spring season. MP United’s Joe Miller posted eight to finish fourth, while Inter Godfather’s Peter Loken came in at fifth with his five. Loken’s teammates Chris Nelson and Ryu Tanzawa, Paire’s Yoshi Mafnas, and Wild Bill’s Jerraphong Thoensaket had four apiece.

In Division 2, Agulto led the way with his 16 goals. The former CNMI National Team member kept the top spot and nosed out Sun Palace’s Junsik Kim after scoring five goals in World Resort’s last two games.

Kim fell short in his bid to overtake Agulto at the No. 1 spot after making only 11 goals, three more than five players tied for third to seventh place. Titu Ahmed and Tej Gurung of Division 2 champion Matansa, Shirley’s Kosuke Sato, the Thundercats’ Yong Jun Jeon, and World Resort’s Hoin Ryu collected eight goals each. There was also a tie for eighth to ninth place with Matansa’s Jeongwook Hwang and Sun Palace’s Feng Chun Jin having seven goals apiece.

Other Division 1 players who notched at least five goals each were Kanoa’s Davy Laxa (6), Bradley Brostrom (6), and Owen Ji (6), Shirley’s Muneaki Arai (5) and Fradel Sedillo (5), and the Thundecats’ Cosmos Kim (5), Timothy Tawanpiy (5), and Don Cabrera (4). (Roselyn B. Monroyo)
