5 vying for Liberation Queen tiara
Five young ladies who will vie for the 2015 Liberation Queen title were officially presented to the public yesterday during a pinning and sash ceremony at the Saipan Mayor’s Office.
The announcement of the five candidates kicks off the start of the annual fundraising event. The one who sells the most number of tickets will be crowned the 2015 Liberation Queen.

Zolenska Rios, Ashley Tabilisma, Stephanie Camacho, Elizabeth Basa, and Mary Jane Anon are this year’s candidates.
All five candidates for the 2015 Liberation Day Royal Court were given time to ask questions of the Liberation Day Committee members as well as to meet with David Burger, managing partner of the Liberation Day’s independent auditor, Burger, Comer and Magliari.
BCM will be helping monitor this year’s raffle ticket sales.
The raffle’s grand prize is $10,000, the baby grand prize is $5,000, first place prize is $3,000, and $1,000, $500, $250, $150, and $100 round out the cash prizes.
Tickets will be sold through the 2015 Liberation Day Royal Court candidates and a booth will be available at the carnival grounds at the Garapan Fishing Base, ensuring the community has a way of reaching the young women they wish to support.
This will be a big difference compared to last year’s Liberation Day festivities, where Liberation Queen candidates were difficult to reach to support their fundraising efforts.
Henry Hofschneider, special assistant for the Mayor’s Office, said the young women are full of energy and are looking forward to this year’s event.
Last year, only four were a part of the Liberation Day Royal Court, with Pressel Camacho being crowned as the 2014 Liberation Queen.
New logo
Skywalker Communications Group project manager Phillip Lempa said the event’s new logo will reflect the exciting lineup of this year’s Liberation Day festivities that promises a great summer for Saipan.
“Our winning theme ‘Peace in Diversity’ ties in very well with the new logo design each of its elements showcases the variety of highlights that will be happening in this year’s annual celebrations,” Lempa said.
“We have the sun, water, palm trees, parade and fireworks all displayed in colorful carnival colors in a logo just bursting with life,” he added.
With the youthful and vibrant new logo, the 2015 Liberation Day Committee chose a design that would reflect the exciting line up this year’s event promises to have this summer as well as the unique characteristics of the islands.
Skywalker Communications and the Saipan Mayor’s Office want the 70th Liberation Day to be branded as an annual attraction for residents and visitors.
Lempa said the logo will be displayed in all of the committee’s promotions for the events such as multimedia campaigns and signage throughout the islands and abroad.
The new logo will also be featured in the 2015 Liberation Day Raffle tickets set to be printed this week.
“With just $1 a ticket, you could win $10,000—how exciting can that be? “ said Lempa. “We are doing this to offer a worthwhile annual event for families and the community and we are asking for all your support.”
