Center for Living Independently celebrates 10th anniversary today
The Center for Living Independently is urging the community to join them in their 10th anniversary celebration today at 10am at their office on Capital Hill. The CLI office is located near the Federal Credit Union Building and the CNMI Military and Veterans Affairs Office.
CLI executive director Lydia Igitol said there will be food and activities available for the community to enjoy.
“CLI is a model home for training people with disabilities on independent living skills. Our mission is to ensure the rights of people with disabilities to live independently and fully integrated within the community, outside of an institutional care setting,” Igitol said.
Prior to its establishment, CLI started in 2001 as a satellite office for the Hawaii Center for Independent Living.
The CLI anniversary program will begin at 10am. Igitol noted that the governor will be present or a representative from the Governor’s Office will read his remarks.
CLI board vice president Jimmy Sablan will also be giving welcoming remarks.
A potluck luncheon will start at 10:50am.
Igitol said there will be a raffle drawing with many prizes at stake.
CLI collaborates with local entities to meet its five core programs. They are in partnership with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, Pubic School System, Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems, Inc., and CNMI Respite Care Program by the Ayuda Network.
“We encourage the community to join us and enjoy food, games, activities, and raffle drawings. …Everyone is welcome,” Igitol said.
