Three men arrested for separate violent attacks, domestic violence
Three men were arrested for allegedly committing separate violent attacks and domestic assaults on Saipan in the last few days.
Apprehended were Juan Borja Roberto, 55; Johnson Gulapa Bonaon, 45; and Alex Kalen Borja, 36. All were taken to Superior Court yesterday for bail hearings.
Roberto was arrested for burglary and theft, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and disturbing the peace.
Citing Roberto’s criminal history and the seriousness of the charges, Associate Judge David A. Wiseman increased the original $10,750 cash bail imposed on Roberto to $25,000 cash.
Bonaon was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault, criminal trespass, disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, and violating an order of protection.
Borja was arrested for assault and battery, child abuse or neglect, and disturbing the peace.
Citing Borja’s extensive criminal history, Wiseman increased the original bail of $3,750 cash to $20,000 cash.
Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government at the hearings.
Police detective Nicholas Rabauliman stated in his report that Roberto, armed with a pipe and machete, allegedly broke several items in the house and stole a table belonging to his former wife in Dandan, and damaged a car on Monday morning.
In Bonaon’s case, Rabauliman said the defendant, who appeared drunk, broke into the house of his former girlfriend in Afetnas on Sunday night, pointed a machete at her throat, and threatened to kill her.
Rabauliman said the victim sustained lacerations on the head and right shoulder. Their three children witnessed the incident.
In Borja’s case, police detective Vincent A. Igisaiar stated in his report that Borja beat up his girlfriend in front of her children when she returned home in Kagman III Sunday at 9pm from a relative’s house.
