An ex-convict, armed with a crowbar and a hammer, allegedly assaulted a man at the latter’s house along Florist Street in Dandan on Tuesday morning.

Robert Ngiramengior, 50, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $10,000 cash yesterday. Preliminary hearing will be on May 28 at 9am.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman learned that the defendant has pending bench warrants for not showing up in court in his traffic case and small claims.

Wiseman retained the $100 cash bail in the small claims but quashed the warrant in the traffic case.

The Office of the Adult Probation also moved to revoke Ngiramengior’s probation for allegedly failing to comply with some conditions in a prior criminal conviction.

Wiseman set the arraignment in the revocation case for June 3 at 9am. The hearing on the small claims will be on June 1 at 1:30pm, while the traffic case will be on June 3 at 9am.

Police detective Nicholas Rabauliman stated in his report that a police officer responded to a house in Dandan, where a disturbance was reported on Tuesday at 5:14am.

When Rabauliman arrived at the house, a woman directed him to the back of the house, where Ngiramengior was lying face down on the ground on top of a tin sheet.

The officer noticed that Ngiramengior was bleeding and was covering his face with his arms. Medics arrived and brought Ngiramengior to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment. After being treated, he was arrested.

One of the men in the house, Ernie M. Dejillas, told the officer that Ngiramengior had come to his house and argued with his sister for about 15 minutes.

Dejillas said he then heard someone on the top of his house’s roof and when he checked, he saw the suspect trying to pull out the nails from the tin roof.

When Dejillas told the suspect to stop and get out of his property, Ngiramengior allegedly threatened to kill him.

The suspect got down the roof and ran toward Dejillas with a crowbar and a hammer. Dejillas threw a golf ball-sized rock at Ngiramengior, hitting him in the chest.

Ngiramengior then hit Dejillas with the crowbar on the right shin and shoulder. Dejillas suffered laceration and bruises. He wrestled the suspect to the ground until the police officer arrived.
