$100K bail for suspected ‘ice’ trafficker

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman yesterday imposed a $100,000 cash bail on suspected methamphetamine trafficker Joshua Sablan Diaz.

Wiseman maintained the $100,000 cash bail originally imposed on Diaz, saying the suspect was one of eight persons arrested during separate operations for drug charges and that he allegedly eluded arrest.

Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for Diaz. Preliminary hearing will be on May 28 at 9am.

Diaz surrendered to police on Tuesday morning after the Department of Public Safety sought the public’s assistance in finding him.

Police detective Jeffrey I. Norita stated in his report that their “cooperating source” managed to buy $50 worth of “ice” from Diaz, who was in a vehicle with another person, in the parking lot of Dolphin’s Wholesale in San Jose last March 17.

Norita said the same “cooperating source” also managed to purchase $100 more worth of “ice” from Diaz, who was in a vehicle with another man, in the parking lot of Garage Sale in San Jose last March 18.

Norita said the “cooperating source” again bought $50 worth of “ice” from Diaz last April 9.

Norita said details of the investigation in the third purchase are incorporated in the affidavit prepared by another police detective for the arrest of another suspected “ice” trafficker.
