Residents who want to adopt a dog may visit the Animal Shelter this Friday and Saturday between 8am and 5pm. Twenty dogs are available for adoption.
There is a $25 adoption fee that includes a dog license, spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, de-worming and flea and tick treatment.
“We want to invite the public to come to the shelter and meet the amazing and beautiful dogs that are available for adoption. They will already be sterilized and have an internal and external parasite treatment,” said Emma Clifford, founder and director of Animal Balance.
The Animal Shelter currently has more than 50 dogs of different shapes, sizes, and breeds. Majority of the dogs that are up for adoption were strays, abandoned, or surrendered dogs that have been kept at the shelter.
Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang added his voice to the call for residents to adopt a dog.
In related news, Clifford said the first day of the sterilization clinic on Tuesday had 33 people who came to have their dogs sterilized.
The clinic in Lower Base will be held until Saturday and will continue at the Kagman Community Center on May 25 to 30.
