Investigators believe that the skeletal remains found in a jungle area near Obyan Beach on Monday could possibly be that of a female, according to the Department of Public Safety today.

DPS acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said Guam chief medical examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola’s autopsy did not reveal any type of identifiable trauma such as fracture, stab or gunshot.

Espinola said further microscopic analysis on bone fragments from the skull is needed to determine the cause of death.

More details to follow.
