Man, 58, allegedly beat up girl for coming home late
A 58-year-old man allegedly hit a girl with a scrub, repeatedly punched her, grabbed her hair, and made her massage his feet at his residence in Tanapag on Sunday early morning.
Patrick Norita Dowai was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing on Monday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail and set a preliminary hearing for May 18 at 9am.
Assistant public defender Matthew Meyer was appointed as counsel for Dowai.
Police detective Dee Liza S. Udui stated in her report that it was the girl’s mother who called police on Sunday at 2:45am to report the beating.
In her interview with the girl, Udui said the girl related that she and her brother had gone to the Taste of the Marianas at the American Memorial Park on Saturday at 8pm and that Dowai scolded her when her cousin dropped her off Sunday at 2am.
Dowai allegedly threw a scrub at her, hitting her back. He then allegedly started beating her then made her massage his feet. He later continued beating her up. When her mother arrived, she told her about the incident. The report didn’t indicate the girl’s age.
Police responded and arrested Dowai at 3:11am that day.
