Race for playoffs spots heats up in Thursday league
The race for the last three slots in the Budweiser-Saipan Billiards Association Open 8-Ball Thursday League is expected to heat up with four teams trying to catch up with leaders Route 33 Alamo Car Rental.

Route 33 is currently on top with a 116-79 card followed by Wild Bill’s’ 110-85 record. Abyss Rack ‘N’ Roll and Jokers Homeboyz are tied at 107-88 for third to fourth places, while the Abyss Titans are at fifth at 100-95.
Route 33 could have widened its lead but it only managed to squeeze out an 8-7 decision against the Homeboyz with Boyet Sequioco and Manny Mariano giving the decisive win in the Partners 8-Ball against Nolan Cultura and Jeff Garcia.
The Barcode Deadshot (95-100) and the Smoke Pub Magic 8-Ball (99-96) also scored 8-7 wins over the Jokers Wonderpool Aces (98-97) and the Rack ‘N’ Roll while Wild Bill’s trounced the Abyss Titans, 10-5.
In the Tuesday League, the Jokers IT&E Voyagers pulled off a 9-6 triumph over the Smoke Pub Ali’I Destroyers to hike their record to 114-81 and enjoy a two-game lead over the Smoke Pub Armatech Hustlers (112-83).
The Destroyers dropped to 96-99, just a game behind the Abyss Crazy 8, a 9-6 conqueror of sister squad and the cellar dwelling Abyss Homeboyz II (76-119).
The Hustlers edged the Jokers Str8 Shooters (90-100), 8-7, in the other Tuesday match.
Results in the last Tuesday league games between the Voyagers and Hustlers, Destroyers and Crazy 8, and Str8 Shooters and Homeboyz II last May 5 were not yet available at press time.
The Thursday League matches between the Deadshot and Route 33, Barcode Breakers and Magic 8-Ball, Homeboyz and Wild Bills’, Rack ‘N’ Roll, and Wonderpool Aces and Team SCS were still being played at press time.
The Top 4 squads after the elimination round of both leagues will advance to the next round with No. 1 taking on No. 4, while No. 2 battles No. 3. The winners of both match ups will move on to the finals while the losers play for third place.
