Pan tuba, sweet bread, or pan toasta?

If you live in, or at least near Garapan, you don’t have to drive far to have the freshest bunch of these old Herman’s Modern Bakery favorites.

The iconic bakery in the CNMI and the Pacific is celebrating another milestone today as they open their new branch at the Tun Kiku’s Building on Middle Road, Garapan. On their 71st year, Herman is hoping to bring back the spark that they had in the area.

Herman once had a branch in Garapan but it closed down.

“Maybe at that point in time, it just wasn’t the right thing for Herman’s. But we are very comfortable here. We feel like we have a lot to offer,” general manager Ana Guerrero Hayes said.

Now, Herman’s aims to add variety to the community as well as provide convenience.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer the community on this side to be able to come in to Herman’s and buy their products and get our quality products,” she said.

Though everything will still be baked at their Airport Road branch, the company promises to keep up to standards.

“We will have multiple deliveries to ensure that the products are fresh,” Hayes added.

Aside from cakes, pastries, and sweets, Herman’s also has lunch items on their menu and they are also bringing that to the new branch.

“Whatever is our hot lunch that we have, those will also be served here but everything will just be pre-packed,” she said.

For Hayes, it is the on-the-go people that they are catering to, providing access for delightful lunch and merienda breaks without the hassle of spending too much time in line.

But even if their products are mostly prepared to-go, customers are also welcome to stay to sip some coffee or eat some refreshments in their new place, just a couple of blocks away from the busy corners of Beach Road.

“We’re providing the community the convenience of being in this area. At the same time we hope that we will be a bustling business. That’s the plan,” Hayes said.

So whether it’s the old pastry favorites or the new additions to their menu you’re after, come and get them freshly delivered at Herman’s Modern Bakery at Tun Kiku’s Building, Middle Road, Garapan. Store hours are at 6:30am to 6:30pm on Mondays through Saturdays and until 1pm on Sundays.
