The victory was the second in three games for Armatech, while Gilas is so far winless in four matches.

Armatech took full control of the match in the third quarter and never looked back to recover from a 69-74 loss to division leader Sonics last week.

Ahead by only 4 at the break, 32-28, Armatech surpassed its output in the entire first half in the third canto, exploding for 35 points to widen the gap, 67-52. Mike Espinosa led the breakaway, drilling 14 of his total points in the pivotal quarter, while Jethro Cruz and JP Iglecias backed him up, combining for 10 more markers.

Down by a big margin, Gilas should have been pressed to mount a comeback in the fourth, but did not have the sense of urgency and instead was content with trading baskets against Armatech. JP Rivera, who was the lone bright spot on Gilas’ front in the third canto, scoring 7 of their last 9 markers, also drilled baskets in succession in the fourth, but these were not enough to save his team from finishing the regular season without a single win to show.

Espinosa paced Armatech with his 20 points, while Cruz added 16, and Adrian De Luna registered 12. Rivera led all scorers with his 27 points, while Ryan Esmundo chipped in 19, and Chico Bondoc tallied 15, as they were the only Gilas players to hit the board in the final canto. The rest of Gilas team combined for only 12 markers, while Armatech had six others players contributing to the team’s cause and adding 32 points.

Meanwhile, Blue Haus and the Ol’Aces collide in the U20 game tonight at 8pm, while the streaking LBT Appraisal takes on Auto Motion in the first match at 6:30pm for the Masters division pairing.

Armatech 85 – Espinosa 20, Cruz 16, De Luna 12, Dalton 8, Santos 8, Fidelino 7, Cudia 4, Deocares 3, Borromeo 2.

Gilas 73 – Rivera 27, Esmundo 19, Bondoc 15, Espinosa 4, Igrobay 4, Diyco 4.

Scoring by quarters: 19-6, 32-28, 67-52, 85-73.
