Probable cause found to charge 2 in home invasions

The Superior Court has found probable cause to warrant the filing of charges against two ex-convicts who were arrested in separate incidents for allegedly burglarizing two apartments.
At a preliminary hearing last Wednesday, Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio determined that the prosecution presented enough evidence to establish probable cause to charge John Chandler Majait Hamilton with burglary, theft, assault, assault and battery, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Hamilton will be arraigned today at 9am.
Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government. Attorney Daniel Guidotti is court-appointed counsel for Hamilton.
Dr. Marty Rohringer was hurt when he and two friends were allegedly attacked with a screwdriver when they tried to stop the 27-year-old Hamilton from escaping after burglarizing the friend’s apartment in Garapan last April 9.
At a preliminary hearing Thursday, Associate Judge David A. Wiseman found found probable cause to charge Fermin Manuel Castro with attempted robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
His arraignment will be today at 9am.
Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds represented the government. Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for the 27-year-old Castro.
A woman sustained several injuries when Castro allegedly broke into her apartment in southern Garapan, threatened to rape her, and punched and slashed her body with a knife during an attempted robbery last April 14.
