Dandan Middle School, Saipan Community School, and Tanapag Middle School had students competing for the first time on Saturday as well.
Associate Justice Perry B. Inos, Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho, Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio, and Associate Judge David A. Wiseman presided over the student trials.
According to council program officer Eulalia Villagomez, individual students were recognized for their outstanding performances in each round.
“The Junior High Mock Trial is one of two signature programs that the council hosts annually and it focuses on the humanities subject of jurisprudence,” she told Saipan Tribune.
“Aside from helping students learn useful knowledge about the law and standard courtroom procedures, the program also teaches reasoning and critical thinking skills and helps students prepare for the competitive mock trial program at the high school level.”
