ON TINIAN BURGLARY AT FLEMING HOTEL, BOAT
Probable cause found on 2 charges; two other charges are dismissed
Probable cause has been found to file two charges against a man accused of burglarizing a hotel on Tinian, stealing five flat screen televisions, and receiving stolen items. Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman dismissed two other charges.
At a preliminary hearing on Friday, Wiseman found probable cause to believe that Jose Blas Manglona may have committed the crimes of theft and receiving stolen property.
Wiseman, however, did not find probable cause to charge the 39-year-old Manglona with burglary and criminal mischief.
Arraignment will be today, Monday, at 9am.
Assistant attorney general Clayton Graef appeared as counsel for the government. Assistant public defender Michael Sato served as counsel for Manglona.
According to the charging information, Manglona burglarized Fleming Hotel on Tinian on Dec. 26, 2014, and stole five flat screen TVs. The defendant allegedly damaged the locks on the hotel’s sliding glass doors.
On Jan. 27, 2015, on Tinian, Manglona allegedly received stolen items such as a fishing rod and reel, fishing lure, a flare kit, and other items.
Police detective Anthony P. Borja stated in his report that their investigation showed that Manglona stole several items from a boat at a house in Marpo Valley last Jan. 27. Stolen were fire extinguisher, tools, socket, socket wrench, four life jackets, flair gun kit, slipper, rod and reel, scuba mask, and a snorkel.
Manglona was also allegedly behind the burglary at Fleming Hotel last Dec. 26, where five flat TV screens were stolen from four rooms.
Borja said that during their interview, Manglona confessed to burglarizing Fleming Hotel.
