Teen hurt after being hit by car along Beach Road
A 17-year-old male was injured when a car hit him as he was crossing on the crosswalk along Beach Road near the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium in Susupe Saturday afternoon, police said.
The victim, described as a local, was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center by medics for further treatment, according to Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong yesterday.
Tarkong said a 46-year-old woman was the driver of the beige 2004 Nissan Sentra that struck the pedestrian.

The vehicle sustained damage to the front hood and a cracked windshield.
Tarkong said the accident happened as the teenager was attempting to cross the pedestrian crosswalk from Ada Gym toward the Kilili Beach area.
Tarkong said witnesses stated that prior to the accident, the pedestrian light was flashing and a car had stopped on the outer northbound lane.
There were no vehicles approaching from the southbound lanes.
Tarkong said the teenager started to cross through the crosswalk when the Nissan Sentra, which was travelling north on the inside lane, suddenly struck him.
“No information regarding the pedestrian’s injuries was released. Investigation is ongoing,” Tarkong said.
Tarkong did not mention whether the driver was given a traffic citation or not.
