Navy work to slow Route 1 traffic at night
ASAN, Guam—The public can expect traffic delays along Route 1 in Dededo and Yigo as Navy contractors scan the area for possible munition anomalies in preparation for an upcoming waterline replacement project.
Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic signs along Route 1 between Route 28 (Ysengsong Road) and the Yigo Fire Station on April 19-24 from 8pm to 5am.
The scanning procedure, a munitions of explosive concern clearance or MEC, is required to be conducted prior to the start of Navy construction projects. It will mitigate the risk of encountering unexploded ordnance during construction work. (PR)
