World Resort pulled off an upset over the second-running Kanoa Football Club, 2-0, in the lone game in the M-League last Wednesday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
Daniel Agulto knocked in the pair of goals for World Resort, which got only its second win in nine games. Agulto hit his first goal in the 12th minute and the second in the 59th. Kanoa had no answer to Agulto, dropping to a 5-1-3 record and muffing a chance to bump off idle Matansa (5-2-1) from the top spot.
Matansa earlier last Sunday failed to gain a sizeable lead in Division 2, but retained the No. 1 spot after forcing a draw against the Thundercats.
Tej Gurung tied the match for Matansa with his shot in the 28th minute. The Thundercats, on the other hand, drew its lone goal from Don Cabrera, who scored in the 14th minute. The Thundercats are in the middle of the team standings, occupying the fourth spot in the seven-squad field with their 3-3-3 record.
In the other Division 2 tiff last Sunday, Shirley’s FC downed Sun Palace, 3-1.
Three different players scored for Shirley’s FC with Jack Phan breaking the ice in the 13th minute and Muneaki Arai and Kosuke Sato lighting up the board in the second half. Arai logged his goal in the 60th, while Sato recorded his 25 minutes later.
Jun Sik Kim gave Sun Palace its lone goal in the match, scoring in the 76th.
Shirley’s moved up to third place with its 4-3-3 record, while Sun Palace fell to fifth with its 3-3-3 mark.
In the first Division 1 match last weekend, Tan Holdings beat MP United, 2-0.
Sean Perez and Martin Jambor teamed up in powering Tan Holdings past MP United with the former scoring in the 33rd and the latter three minutes into the second half.
With the victory, Tan Holdings kept the division lead, as it now has a 7-0-1 record, one win ahead of the second-running Wild Bill’s (6-0-2)
Wild Bill’s also won its game last Sunday after topping Inter Godfather’s, 8-4.
Tanapon Unsa was at the forefront of Wild Bill’s victory, making six goals in consecutive fashion. Thanyakorn Konkoed and Jeeraphong Thoensaket posted the two other goals for Wild Bill’s with the former starting things out for his team before Unsa began his streak.
Unsa’s string of goals came early as he nailed his first in the fourth minute. The second was logged in the fifth, while his four others were posted in the 25th, 52nd, 63rd, and 67th. Thoensaket closed out for Wild Bill’s with his goal in three minutes before the match wrapped up.
Inter Godfather’s, on the other hand, scored two goals apiece in the first and second half. Bruce Berline and Peter Loken hit the board in the 16th and 30th minute, respectively, while Ryu Tanzawa (68th) and Arkie Reusora (75th) bagged the last two goals.
Inter Godfather’s absorbed its fourth loss in four games to stay at the No. 4 spot in the team standing ahead of idle Paire (2-0-5) and Korean Football Association on Saipan (0-0-7).
