NMIS to host 2nd Sportsfest, Family Fun Fair

The Northern Marianas International School will hold its 2nd Annual Sportsfest and Family Fun Fair this Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Oleai Sports Complex.

NMIS vice principal Jener Pineda said the main objective of this fun-filled event is to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst teachers, staff, parents, and students.

NMIS Sports Week will last from April 13 to 17, 2015. All students, teachers, and staff were divided into four teams: Blue Shark Rangers, Green Lanterns, Red Warriors, and Yellow Eagles. Badminton and basketball competitions will be done in the NMIS playground while the chess tournament will be in the school cafeteria.

The culmination activity of this momentous event will be on April 18. There will be a traditional parade of all the team members to be followed by the lighting of torch and raising of banners. Other events such as track and field 100m dash, 150m, 200m, 300m, relay, sack race, over-under, tug of war, and cheer dance will follow.

One of the highlights of this event is the coronation of Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest. Official candidates are as follows:

Blue Shark Rangers: Dianne Maxene Melchor and Brian Matthew Apasan;

Green Lanterns: Euanne Kyra Claveria and Robi Jan Magat;

Red Warriors: Mikaela Louise Vergara and Clint Irang;

Yellow Eagles: Patricia Lugtu and Dindo Ferrer Jr.

There will also be a basketball exhibition game between the parents and staff in the afternoon, to be followed by the awarding ceremony to conclude the event. (NMIS)
