Public School System’s Preston Basa and John Santy of Saipan Ice are leading their respective departments, in offense and defense, in the Inter-Commercial Business Basketball League 2015.

Basa, the sweet-shooting guard who coaches both the Marianas High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, is the league’s top scorer with a per game average of 26.6 points or a total of 160 after six matches.

Basa, who guided the Dolphins to the Marianas Interscholastic boys’ and girls’ basketball titles, has also buried a total of 35 3-pointers or firing an average of six per game.

Docomo Pacific’s Tony Diaz is second to Basa in terms of scoring with 22.1 while IT&E’s Jason Palacios is third at 18.14. PIC’s Jack Aranda, meanwhile, is the league’s second best 3-point shooter with 16, while Palacios is still third with 14.

PSS’ Jerry Diaz is on top of the assists department with 4.1 per game followed by Tony Diaz 3.5 and Joeten’s Syl Teregeyo’s 3.3, respectively.

Joel Fernandez of Saipan Ice is currently the league’s best in steals with a 4.4 per game average, while IT&E teammates Palacios and Nate Mateo are second and third with 4.0 and 3.4 per outing.

Santy, meanwhile, tops the block shot and rebounding departments.

He is not alone on top of the blocks department though as he is joined by Saipan Ice teammate Ben Olopai with 1.80 per game, while Docomo’s Rick Sanchez is swatting 1.16 per outing.

Mobil’s Prince Factor, PSS’ Mel Manibusan and Joeten’s Alex Lauron are averaging one block a game apiece.

Santy is also the league’s leading rebounder with an average of 12.5 per game, while Olopai is grabbing 9.6. Lauron is at third with 9.1.

Action resumes today after the Holy Week break with Joeten facing IT&E at 6:30pm, while undefeated MARPAC takes on PSS in the 8pm second game.

On Thursday, Docomo tangles with Mobil in the 6:30pm opener and will be followed by the Saipan Stevedore-Fiesta Resort tiff at 8pm.
