Best Sunshine International, Ltd. plans to bring in more than a hundred gaming machines once the casino gaming regulations in the Commonwealth are finalized.

Don Hallmark, Best Sunshine International’s director of slots, said the company is just waiting for the final regulations before it can bring in 106 machines.

The executive said the machines will come “from all over, including the U.S.”

Hallmark said the machines will be the “latest” and will be up to standard.

Standards

GLI, an Australian testing and certification firm, said global standards are available for casino operators regarding the latest gaming machines.

“Best Sunshine is already familiar with the de facto standards, which are the GLI standards,” Philip Harrison, senior manager, regulator development, compliance and quality assurance for GLI, said.

GLI is a firm that tests and reviews the compliance of gaming machines used by casinos all over the world, according to the company website.

The company uses a set of standards that most casinos use. Some of the standards apply to slot machines, regarding technical specifications, integrity of software, and security, Harrison said.

Hallmark said the machines that Best Sunshine will be bringing in are GLI-certified.

Harrison visited the CNMI to have a glimpse of the island’s soon-to-be casino industry. He also attended the Commonwealth Casino Commission meeting on Wednesday, primarily as an observer. Harrison said his company is not affiliated with country regulators or casino operators.

Casino Commission executive director Edward Deleon Guerrero stressed that Harrison made the trip on his own and that his travel expenses were not shouldered by the commission.
