Bank sets up account to accept donations for Maysak’s victims

HAGATNA, Guam—Bank of Guam is partnering with Ayuda Foundation to rush much needed medical supplies to the islands of Chuuk and Yap following the devastation caused by Supertyphoon Maysak.  The bank is funding $5,000 worth of medical supply packages to the islands, which will be delivered either by airdrop or boat.

The bank, which has branches in both Chuuk and Yap, has announced that their Chuuk branch had limited operating hours yesterday, and is scheduled to resume normal operating hours today.  The Bank of Guam Chuuk branch is opened 9am to 3pm Monday through Thursday, and 9am to 5pm on Friday.  Their telephone number is (691) 330-2567.

Lou A. Leon Guerrero, Bank of Guam president, chief executive officer and board chair stated, “We are saddened to learn of the deaths and devastation to our neighboring islands, and send our support for a speedy recovery.”

Leon Guerrero further stated, “In addition to establishing an account to accept financial contributions to send to the islands, we are providing direct assistance to all of our Bank of Guam employees in those branches.”

Bank of Guam, with assets over $1.4billion, is in its 43rd year with 23 branches throughout Guam and western Micronesia.  Its Chuuk branch has been in existence since 1980, and the Yap branch was opened in 2009. (BoG)
