Proclamations on protecting kids, women to be inked Wednesday
Three proclamations aimed at protecting children and women in the CNMI will be signed this Wednesday at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center.
This will designate the month of April as the official month to highlight the specific objectives of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Month, and Week of the Young Child.
Partnering agencies include the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, and DCCA-Division of Youth Services.
SAAM aims not only to lift the veil of secrecy but to increase awareness, engage bystanders and expand support and strengthen the system’s response to domestic and sexual violence.
Last year’s theme for SAAM was “Your Voice, Our Future: End Sexual Violence.”
Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Month aims to prevent child abuse and neglect, enable DYS to respond to child abuse and neglect, manage and supervise cases and provide supportive programs and services, thus preserving families.
Last year the theme for Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Month was “Making Meaningful Connections.”
The Early Childhood Month/Week of the Young Child recognizes the importance of early learning, literacy, and celebrate the teachers, caregivers, and lawmakers that bring early childhood education to young children.
These three proclamation signings will happen at 10am.
