An unidentified man armed with a long gun robbed the Island Hotel on Alaihai Avenue in Garapan of $20 to $40 cash early Thursday morning, police said.

The suspect was described as skinny, with white hair, wearing a pair of dark long pants with a black long-sleeved shirt, and a gray T-shirt wrapped around his mouth.

A 26-year-old female front desk clerk told responding police officers that at 4:15am, she heard a vehicle with a loud muffler arrive at the hotel. The suspect entered the lobby holding a black long gun, which the front desk clerk described as looking like a shotgun with a gray small cloth covering the tip of the barrel. The suspect then handed the clerk a red plastic grocery bag, demanding money. The clerk handed over three envelopes, one containing $20 to $40 cash, and the other two envelopes containing receipts of the hotel’s daily activities.

The robber grabbed the envelopes and ran to the parking lot, jumping into the speeding car with the loud muffler.

Anyone who has information about the suspect may call police or NMI Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272.
