Private schools aim for ‘rigorous bylaws’

The Coalition of Private Schools is revising their bylaws for “more rigorous” requirements for membership.

According to coalition president Galvin Guerrero, these new standards will require schools to submit curriculum, a list of employees, and certifications.

A “compliance committee” will be formed and an annual certificate given to schools.

He said the coalition plans to publish every year its members, along with their coalition requirements, so the public will what schools are not part of the coalition.

According to Guerrero, their next meeting is in April.

He said since has been elected as president of the coalition it has been a challenge to get all private schools to agree. Membership on the coalition is voluntary.
