Some 11 Kinpachi Restaurant staff and seven of their children joined in the monthly cleanup.

The non-profit group’s coordinator, Sonia Siwa, said they did their cleanup from 8am to 11:30am and collected about 1,560 lbs of trash.

Siwa said that they didn’t have much volunteers on Saturday because the 29th Annual Red Cross Walkathon was happening and the Saipan Awaodori members had joined the event.

They did some bush cutting and took out hard soil blocking the drainages along Coral Tree Avenue.

“Most of the trash and litter was from the earlier typhoon,” Siwa said.

The group’s monthly cleanup collects close to or more than 1,000 lbs of trash.
