Taitano appointment to CUC board OK’d

The Senate on Friday approved the appointment of Albert A. Taitano to the board of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

Senators approved Taitano’s appointment after hearing supporting testimonies at a session on Rota.

Gov. Eloy S. Inos appointed Taitano on March 2 to serve on the CUC board representing Saipan.

Taitano’s appointment requires the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Representatives. If confirmed, Taitano will serve a four year-term.

Inos also named appointees for the Commonwealth Ports Authority, Civil Service Commission, Medical Profession Licensing Board, and Historic Preservation Review Board.

Jose R. Lifoifoi was appointed as a member of the CPA board. He will be required to file a statement of financial interest and other requirements.

The governor also appointed Dr. Warren Creed to serve as a member of the Medical Profession Licensing Board, which will require the advice and consent of the Senate.

Felicitas P. Abraham was re-appointed to serve as a member of the CSC. She will also be asked to disclose a financial statement to the Public Auditor.

The governor also appointed Barry Wonenberg and Dr. Elizabeth D. Rechebei to serve on the Historic Preservation Review Board. The advice and consent of the Senate is not required and the appointees will serve a four-year term
