With four national football teams training for international competitions this year, the two companies showed their support to the squads by donating $1,000 worth of training jerseys each. Let’s Go! Tour Company donated two training jerseys for players on the U15 and U18 boys national team selection pools. Sun Palace Hotel, on the other hand, donated two training jerseys for players on the U14 girls and Women’s National Team selection pools.
The CNMI U14 Girls National Team will play in Beijing, China from May 19 to 24 for the AFC U14 Girls Regional Championships 2015. The Women’s National Team will follow suit in July for the Hong Kong Cup, while the CNMI U14 Boys will also be going to Beijing in September for the AFC U14 Festival. Although the locations are not yet announced, the CNMI is also sending teams to the AFC U16 Championship 2016 Qualifier set for September and the AFC U19 Championships 2016 Qualifier slated for October.
Meanwhile, these donations followed recent announcements of two other major sponsors, Soccer Junky and D&Q Saipan. The Japanese apparel company just signed an agreement to sponsor the uniforms of all our four national teams. That donation for 2015 is worth about $41,000. NMIFA technical director and head coach Kiyoshi Sekiguchi was instrumental in convincing Soccer Junky to support the CNMI national teams.
D&Q Saipan signed a three-year sponsorship worth $30,000 and it will cover NMIFA’s women’s programs. The sponsorship also includes the renaming of the NMIFA women’s league to “Dove Women’s Football League.” This pact shows how football in the CNMI is totally committed to girls and women players.
