The inspection was held at the Saipan Southern High School JROTC classroom from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The inspectors for the day were Mark Pratt and Richard Butcher. The Manta Ray cadets and two instructors, CSM (retired) Richard Basa and SGM (retired) Joaquin Kiyoshi, were a part of this event.

There were six categories in which the battalion was inspected on: Staff Battalion Continuous Improvement Project Briefing, Service Learning Briefing, Cadet Portfolio and Interview, Unit Report, S1 – S5 (Battalion Staff) Interviews, and Instructor Interviews. The battalion was inspected on Drill, In-Ranks, and Color Guard on Jan. 15, 2015 in which the cadets gave their best and obtained outstanding scores.

By the end of the inspection, the Manta Ray Battalion accumulated an exceptional score of 98.28 percent, which broke the record of being the battalion with the highest score among other 8th Brigade battalions, as well as breaking the record of being the most organized and fastest to get inspected, for the battalion was well prepared and wasted no time with the inspectors.
