NMD Corp. sets out to rebrand itself with new goals
The newly elected leadership of the Northern Marianas Descent Corp. has been meeting weekly to brainstorm, set goals and objectives, and share ideas on what and how the corporation will approach issues in the CNMI.
“We are working on how to rebrand ourselves and are taking a different approach on making decisions on our stance and that it has to be a win-win situation for both sides, for our NMDs and non-NMDs so that we all coexist together harmoniously. We want to educate our people on the importance of our Covenant and Constitution, most especially our negotiations and agreements with the United States, 702 talks, 902 negotiation, immigration and labor,” said a corporation statement issued yesterday.
“On our agenda are the Best Sunshine lease, expiring public land leases, marijuana bill and the gun lawsuit. We are creating committees and will be appointing chairpersons to take on the identified items and issues at hand. The president has also appointed seven honorary board members and advisers so that they can take part in our discussions. We want to and are collaborating with the Covenant negotiators, legislators, businesses community associations, and most especially our NMD people to gather feedback and information so the corporation can have firsthand knowledge on how we can assist them with their concerns.”
To celebrate the Covenant Day holiday on March 24, Tuesday, the corporation will be having membership registration drive on that day, from 11am to 3pm at the Civic Center basketball court. It will also be having a general membership meeting at 1pm that same day, March 24.
“We are encouraging all NMD’s to please come register and participate in the meeting,” the statement adds.
