The MYPros board organizes, drives membership
Out of tremendous concern for the future of the CNMI, the Marianas Young Professionals, aptly named “MYPros,” was recently organized as a non-profit organization by a team of young leaders.
“The founders of our organization represent such a broad range of professionals across the CNMI,” said Bo Palacios, MYPros president. “It was important to all of us that our group be formed independently and organically so that we can represent the interests of our young people and not a specific interest group.”
In addition to Palacios, the founding MYPros board include vice president Nola Hix, Xerox sales executive; treasurer Nikki Villagomez, CUC watershed engineer; secretary Jacqueline Che, NMC director for Institutional Effectiveness; director Rep. Angel Demapan, CNMI House of Representatives; director Matt Deleon Guerrero, Lt. Governor’s chief of staff, and director Kaitlyn Neises-Mocanu, REACH project assistant at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Division of Public Health Services.
The mission of MYPros is to connect passionate, young professionals with opportunities to grow and engage socially, professionally, and civically for the benefit of the Commonwealth.
“Part of our goals is to find symbiosis between young professionals in different industries across the private, government, and non-profit sectors,” Hix said.
Demapan adds: “We are embarking upon a transition point here in the CNMI. Just look at our elected leaders for example. We have a lieutenant governor who is under 40. Seven members of the Legislature are also under 40. The time of the young professional is here.”
MYPros invites motivated, driven individuals within the ages of 20 to 40 to register for membership by visiting its website, www. MYPros.org. (MYPros)
