Matansa, Shirley’s notch easy wins

Matansa Football Club and Shirley’s FC eased past separate foes to keep the Top 2 spots in team standings in the girls U15 division of the 2015 NMIFA Youth Spring League.

Matansa cruised to a 3-0 win against Paire Football Club in the final game in the division last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field to improve its record to 2-1-0 (win-draw-loss). Shirley’s holds the same record following a 5-1 rout of MP United also last Saturday and won the tiebreak for first place in the team standings with its higher goal difference. Shirley’s has scored nine goals and allowed only three for a goal difference of six, while Matansa has four (four goals scored and none allowed).

Angelica Sally drilled two of those four goals in their victory over Paire FC in the second half, while Bernadette Horey tallied the other goal also in the final frame.

In the Shirley’s FC-MP United tiff at Hopwood’s Pitch 2, Diana Maniacop also logged two goals, scoring the former’s first and last goal (fifth minute and 68th). Jobelle Tabuena, Katrina Costales, and Mia Carreon also hit the board for Shirley’s FC. MP United, which dropped to fourth place in the team standings, drew its lone goal from Gilliam Villagomez.

Over at Hopwood’s Pitch 1, Tan Holdings FC also recorded a 5-1 victory over Kanoa FC. Tan Holdings gained its second triumph in three games, while Kanoa remained winless.

Mary Kay Alferos started things off for Tan Holdings with her back-to-back goals in the first half, while Chloe Salvosa, Chevy Kate Alipio, and Lovely Loyola added one goal apiece.

BOYS U15
Matansa 3, Kanoa 2

In the first game in the boys U15 last Friday at the Oleai Sport Complex Field, Matansa nosed out Kanoa.

David Mafnas gave Matansa the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute, while Joshua De Leon and Glenn Mark Basallo drilled the two other goals for the winning squad.

Andrue Omelau canned the pair of goals for Kanoa with his second one in the 66th minute, lifting Kanoa to a 2-1 advantage before Matansa stole the lead and the victory after scoring two goals in a span of two minutes. Basallo registered the second goal in the 76th minute.

MP United 7, Paire 0
In the second game last Friday, division leader MP United pounded Paire to bag its third win in as many games.

Alex Park starred in MP United’s demolition of Paire as he made a hat-trick last weekend. Oliver Lee chipped in two goals, while Sunjoon Tenorio and Joshua Abragan tallied one apiece.

Tan Holdings-1 9, Tan Holdings-2 0
Tan Holdings-1 showed no love lost to sister team Tan Holdings- 2 in their game last Saturday at the Oleai pitch.

Tan Holdings-1 bombarded Tan Holdings-2 with goals right in the first half with the former collecting six goals. Mark Esalan and Thaiphi Austraia made two goals apiece in the first half, while Anthony Fruit and John Michael Rojas contributed one each. Esalan completed a hat-trick after scoring Tan Holdings-1 first goal in the second half, while Albert Bergancia and Fruit added one apiece.

BOYS U18
Tan Holdings 4, Matansa 2

Tan Holdings was also victorious in the boys U18 division, downing Matansa last Saturday at the Oleai pitch.

Sean Perez nailed a pair of goals for Tan Holdings, which drew one each from Yoshi Mafnas and Joel Fruit. Perez and company recorded all their goals in the second half to recover from a 0-1 halftime deficit.

Matansa took the lead at the break after getting a goal from Ryu Tanzawa in the ninth minute. Joshua De Leon posted Matansa’s second goal in the 82nd minute.

MP United 4, Paire 0
In the other boys U18 match last weekend, MP United blanked Paire.

Three different players scored for MP United. Chan Woo Jeong hit the board for MP United first with his goal in the 30th minute, while Daniel Lim knocked in the second one five minutes later. Lim got his second one in the 56th minute, while Enrico Del Rosario closed out for MP United with his shot in the 75th.

CO-ED U12
MP United 3, Kanoa 2

MP United triumphed, too in the co-ed U12 division, outlasting Kanoa last Saturday at the Hopwood pitch.

Dylan Cho registered twin goals for MP United with his second one in the 56 th minute lifting his team to the close win. Cho hit his first goal in the 47th, while Rintaro Miyawaki nailed MP United’s lone goal in the first half (20th).

Brian Lubao and Merrick Toves scored for Kanoa, tallying both goals in the second half.

Paire 6, Tan Holdings 4
Paire saved one win last weekend after its co-ed squad topped Tan Holdings FC.

Kaden Church towed Paire to victory with his hat-trick, while Blake Mister, Maui Johnson, and Justin Weaver backed him up, contributing one goal each.

Taka Borja led Tan Holdings’ losing cause, as he also posted a hat-trick in consecutive fashion. Kohtaro Goto was the other scorer for Tan Holdings.
