CIP, Tinian mayor ink renovation contracts for DPS, health center
Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas met with Capital Improvement Projects executives and signed off on a contract funding for renovation of the Department of Public Safety and Tinian Health Center buildings.
San Nicolas signed a $318,785 contract for the DPS renovation and a $75,000 contract for THC.
He said renovation work will begin as soon as the contracts are signed by the Office of Procurement and Supply, Department of Finance, and Commonwealth Development Authority.
The renovation for DPS includes internal and externals renovations to its headquarters in San Jose, Tinian. Funds for that is through bond interest money from Public Law 17-8, which allows the Tinian Legislative Delegation to tap into the local license fees collected from pachinko slot machines and poker fees in the second senatorial district (Tinian).
“DPS is in need of renovation because of its existing structure that is already getting old,” San Nicolas said in an earlier interview.
For the Tinian Health Center, the contractor has to fix the canopy of the director’s office that is located at the former Public Health Clinic entrance at THC.
Architectural and engineering analysis of THC has been completed. This analysis examined the current layout of the health center and changes that should be made to accommodate long-term needs.
Immediate repairs to the roofing system, American’s with Disabilities Act compliance in at least one bathroom, and other improvements will be addressed. Its construction is currently ongoing.
