Kagboys nip IT&E Comets, 7-6

J.P. Celis and the Kagboys bullpen—composed of Justin Agulto and Tom Agulto—escaped with a 7-6 win over the IT&E Comets in the Major division of the Saipan Little League on Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Baseball Field.

Celis went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, and three RBIs including a two-RBI double in the first inning that drove in J.R. Suel and Justin Agulto.

Agulto lasted for three innings tossing a no-hitter with four strikeouts and four walks. Tom Agulto pitched three innings in relief giving up one hit with six strikeouts and five walks.

Tom Agulto, with the Kagboys holding on to a 7-3 lead, held his own in the bottom of the sixth when the Comets tried to steal the game away.

He gave up a lead off walk to Terrance Changar, who advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error.

Tom Agulto then allowed Rexzon Calage to ground out on a 4-3 putout play for the first out, while Joe Palacios followed when he got on first safely on another Kagboys error and reached home plate on a throwing error by catcher A.J. Sanchez to make it 7-5.

He then forced Alvin Hocog to ground out on another 4-3 play by Suel and Jun Celis for the second out, but walked Forrest Pangelinan after that. Pangelinan reached third base on consecutive passed balls and touched home plate on a Devin Ayuyu RBI single.

Ayuyu moved to second on another passed ball but Tom Agulto ended the match when he struck out Denzel Pangelinan for the third out.

Falcons 7, Docomo Ol’Aces 3
Kyle Kapileo tossed one no-hit inning in relief and had an RBI triple to help the Falcons get past the Docomo Ol’Aces. He scored one run, had two RBIs, and a triple, while also striking out two and walking six batters in relief.

Joel Norita pitched four innings in the start giving up two hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Aven Evangelista closed out for the Falcons and fanned Ol’Aces leadoff batter C.J. Kaipat. Ken Kaipat got on base on an error by first baseman Millanion Sablan, who was left stranded after Latrel Deleon Guerrero struck out and Andre Macaranas was tagged out going to third.

The loss came on the heels of the Ol’Aces’ 38-3 pounding of the Jets on Thursday where they belted five homeruns with Jordan Babauta whacking two homers, while Ohane Borja and Trevon Lieto hitting solo shots in the first inning.

Red Sox 13, McDonald’s 2
Shane Mallens blasted an inside-the-park-homer in a 2-for-3 appearance at the plate, while Devon Pangelinan went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles and three runs for the Red Sox.

Pangelinan pitched 3.2 innings surrendering five hits while striking out nine and walking two batters.

JUNIORS
Falcons 14, Enforcers 6
Spencer Dickerson had an RBI double in the Falcons’ six-run sixth inning barrage, while Arby Yaquel went 3-for-4, scoring three times and had an RBI single in the third for the Falcons.

Noel Cabrera pitched 5.2 innings in start allowing three earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

SENIORS
Red Sox 8, Comets 2
Richard Atalig tossed six one-hit innings, fanning nine, and walking two batters while going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a triple, and two runs for the Red Sox.

He got plenty of help from Vince Leon Guerrero who went perfect at the plate 3-for-3, with two runs, and a triple and Ton Agulto, 2-for-3, scored one run, a double, and an RBI single in the second to bring in Atalig.

Braves 12, Fielders 7
Juan Quitugua scored twice and had two RBIs in a 3-for-4 plate appearance, while Logan Martin went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI single in the first in the Braves’ win.

Martin lasted six innings on the mound and was tagged with two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
