SSC International Meet set for March 12 to 14

The 2015 Saipan Swim Club International Invitational Swim Meet will run from March 12 to 14 at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool.

The meet, which is expected to draw participants from Guam and the Marshall Islands, listed 22 events spread in three days. For the first day, swimmers in the 11-and-over age group will race in the 1,500m freestyle and to qualify they must have an A time in the 200m freestyle. The 400m individual medley is the only other event scheduled in Day 1 and it’s for swimmers in the 13-and-over age group. Competition will start t 5:10pm.

For Day 2, races will begin at 3pm and events are as follows: 400m freestyle for 13-and-over, 100m breaststroke, 200m IM, 100m butterfly, and 4x100m medley relay for all ages, and 200m backstroke 11-and-over. Swimmers competing in the 400m freestyle must also have an A time in the 200m freestyle to qualify.

For the final day of the swim meet, SSC will hold two sessions. The morning races will kick off at 8pm and will feature the 4x100m freestyle relay, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, and 100m backstroke for all ages, 800m freestyle for 13-and-over (A time in 200m freestyle), 200m breaststroke for 11-and-over, and 200m mixed medley relay (2 boys and 2 girls) for all ages.

In the final session, which will start at 2pm, swimmers will race in the 50m and 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 200m freestyle relay, and 200m mixed freestyle relay events. The six afternoon events are for all ages.

Swimmers in the U8 age group can compete in as many as seven individual events, while the rest can join a maximum of nine races. There is no limit for relay races. At the end of the competition, high-point awards will be given to the Top 3 finishers in each age group.
