The Northern Marianas College Board of Regents is set to vote for their board chair this Thursday during a regular board meeting at 9am.

The election of officers has been tabled several times previously. But both chair Frank Rabauliman and director of Institutional Effectiveness Jaqueline Che, in separate interviews, confirmed that they expect the election to be held this Thursday.

Rabauliman was elected unanimously in December 2013. He succeeded Juan T. Lizama, who had led the board during a period of accreditation sanctions the college had faced.

The board chair is seen as the “spokesperson” of the board, representing them and leading them as they govern the college. The position has a term of one year. Regents elect a chairperson every year.

Also scheduled for action is the voting of a board treasurer, according to a copy of the meeting’s agenda.

Right now, Elaine Hocog Orilla is vice chairperson, Maria T. Peter is treasurer, while Lizama, William Torres, Michaela Sanchez, and Elizabeth Rechebai serve as regents.
