Sex offender allegedly punches girlfriend over her FB account
A sex offender was arrested again, this time for allegedly punching his girlfriend at their house in Kagman II last week during an argument over her Facebook account.
Dickson Teruo Cosmes, 30, was served with an arrest warrant Friday night in Kagman III on charges of assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act.
His bail was set yesterday at $10,000 cash. Preliminary hearing is on March 4 at 9am.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho appointed assistant public defender Michael Sato as counsel for Cosmes. Assistant attorney general Emily Cohen appeared for the government.
Police detective Rhonda C. John stated in her report that a police officer responded to a residence in Kagman II, last Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 8:40pm, where a domestic violence incident reportedly happened.
The officer learned from the alleged victim that her boyfriend, Cosmes, punched her face after accusing her of looking for a boyfriend in Facebook.
The victim told police that Cosmes was holding their baby at the time, and when she tried to get the baby from him, he turned and punched her face hard. She took a butane gas container and struck him with it on the head.
Police arrested Cosmes at the scene at 9:21pm that same day but was later released.
The victim told police it was the third time that Cosmes punched her face.
John said that in her interview with Cosmes at the Department of Corrections last Wednesday, he denied punching his girlfriend, but admitted he slapped her face after she punched him.
He said as he walked away, she hit her with a butane gas container on the head. He said she punched his face repeatedly.
Police learned that on Dec. 11, 2001, Cosmes admitted to the offense of rape and served prison term.
Police found out that there are minors in the house, in violation of the Sex Offender Act, prohibiting him from staying at a residence where minors are present.
