U.S. Attorney for Guam and CNMI Districts Alicia A.G. Limtiaco filed yesterday a stipulation to continue the sentencing hearing for the case of a female Chinese national who pleaded guilty to a count of foreign labor contracting fraud conspiracy as part of a plea deal.

The sentencing hearing for Li Hua will continue from Sept. 29 to Sept. 30 at 1:30pm based on the stipulation signed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Schuler and Hua’s court-appointed counsel, Bruce Berline.

The stipulation stated that both parties would like more time to review the final pre-sentence investigation, which was filed on Tuesday, and prepare for the hearing.

Hua, who was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the Saipan International Airport as she was leaving for China on June 5, was allegedly responsible for recruiting six persons from China to come to the CNMI to unlawfully work while paroled in as tourists.

ICE agents also arrested another defendant, Honglian Cheng, who is allegedly responsible for bringing the six to Saipan. She was arrested also at the airport as she was leaving for China on June 3.
