Rep. Edwin K. Propst (Ind-Saipan) has initiated meetings with utilities officials to address community improvements in Precinct 1.

Propst and his minority party colleague, Rep. Vinson Sablan (Ind-Saipan), are set to meet with Commonwealth Utilities Corp. Power Division manager Gary Camacho regarding the lighting requirements and with Department of Public Works officials for the civil work requirements.

The two lawmakers will also be meeting with Parks and Recreation Director Eli Cabrera on the same day.

The lawmaker said some of the community improvements include several telephone pole locations and streetlights that need to be replaced. Improvements along sidewalks are also being sought.

Propst said public areas in his precinct need improvement “for the safety of residents, particularly children.”

The lawmaker has also been very active in social media, where he first announced ongoing community development efforts that he personally participates in.

“Please know that I have listed some of the telephone pole locations that need replacement streetlights and will be driving around this evening around our precinct to look for more street lights that are not working,” Propst, in a social media post, said.

He listed down areas needing new streetlights in his precinct including Koblerville, Koblerville Main Road, Adobu Drive (near a park for children), Magicienne Bay Avenue, As Listo Road toward Koblerville, Maguro Drive, Flame Tree Road, Fina Sisu, and Tinaktak Drive near Saipan Southern High School, among others.

The lawmaker is inviting precinct residents to inform him of damaged streetlights and other areas that need improvement.

Propst said he is using a “hands-on approach” on the improvement efforts as an effective tool to know the concerns of his community.
