Mount Carmel School launches MCS 2.0 campaign
Mount Carmel School recently launched “MCS 2.0.” a social media campaign that features new social media tools for the island’s only Catholic school. As part of the social media campaign, the school announced that it had also received new laptops for all teachers as part of the CNMI Public School System’s 21st Century Classroom Initiative.
“In this age of digital technology, social networking, and globalization, it’s more important than ever to stay connected and engaged as part of a 21st century education,” said school president Galvin Deleon Guerrero. “We trust that these new tools will help our students, faculty, staff, families, and AlumKnights connect to their school and each other.”
One of the new social media tools is a Twitter account for the school, @MCS_KNIGHTS. Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets.”
Another new social media tool is the school’s official YouTube channel. In addition to featuring the school’s 50th anniversary history documentary, senior farewell videos for the past 10 years, and some school ads, the school’s YouTube channel also features the “Best Day of My Life” commercial that was aired during this year’s Super Bowl game. The commercial was shot in one continuous take as the camera moved throughout the campus and the entire student body showed their school spirit with singing, cheering, wearing costumes, donning face paint, and tossing streamers and confetti throughout the video.
The school’s MCS 2.0 campaign also marked a milestone as the school reached 1,000 likes on its official Facebook page.
To complement the social media campaign, later this year, the school will launch a new online admissions portal and cloud-based student information system. The new portal and system will allow students and parents to apply for admission, register for classes, pay for tuition and fees, monitor grades, and communicate with teachers, all online. (MCS)
