Dubbed as the Genesis Cup Christian Churches Inter-Color Basketball League, the caging that was last held in 2008 is organized by Association of Filipino Pastors, Saipan with its president Noel Puno named as commissioner.

Puno said the eight competing teams this season are Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Gideon, Samuel, Caleb, and Joshua. Daniel won the last championship in the Genesis Cup after beating Isaiah in the finals, 92-76.

“We are bringing back the league to promote camaraderie among the 12 church members of AFPS. We also want to help them stay fit and active through basketball,” Puno said.

The league will have its opening ceremony at 3pm, while games will be played every Monday and Friday, starting at 6pm. A players general meeting will be held this Sunday at 3pm at the Jesus Is Lord Church. League ground rules, awards, distribution of uniforms, and other competition matters will be discussed at the meeting.

A series of tune-up games has started last month to prepare the participating teams, whose players are members of JIL, Cornerstone Christian Church, Grace Christian, Saipan Community Church, Filipino Community Church, Life in the Son, Upper Room International Ministry, Marianas Christian Church, Victorious Christian Church, Saipan Bible Fellowship, Christian Bible Fellowship, and Marianas Bible Fellowship Center.
