The Inos administration has appointed new Cabinet members for the Department of Commerce, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the Department of Public Works.

Mark Rabauliman has been appointed to head Commerce, Richard Seman has been appointed to head DLNR, and James Ada has been appointed to head Public Works. Rabauliman serves as acting secretary after erstwhile Commerce secretary and now Sen. Sixto Igisomar ran and won a Senate seat, while Seman lost his seat in the House of Representatives in last year’s general elections. Ada is the president of the CNMI Republican Party.

Also appointed was Ivan Blanco as public information officer. He has been serving in an acting capacity since former press secretary Angel Demapan ran and won a House seat in Precinct 1.

The appointments will be subject to Senate confirmation, except for the PIO post.

More appointments are expected to be made in the coming days.

The government earlier accepted the courtesy resignation of Department of Corrections Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas and DPW Secretary Martin C. Sablan.

Lt. Gov. Ralph DLG Torres earlier said the nominations of Seman and Rabauliman have been made but there is still no definite date as to when the rest of the new Cabinet would finally shape up.

“There are some Cabinet members who will stay and there are some Cabinet members who would be shifting to other responsibilities,” Torres had said.

It was also reported that the makeup of the new Cabinet would be based on the transition report of Committee on Transition chair Gregorio M. Camacho.

Appointees for the Department of Finance, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, Department of Labor, Department of Public Lands, Department of Public Safety, Office of Management and Budget, Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality, Carolinian Affairs Office, Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, and Women’s Affairs Office have yet to be announced.

Gov. Eloy S. Inos earlier requested his Cabinet to submit courtesy resignations after his and Torres’ victory in the runoff election in December.
