Manglona orders dental clinic, owners to pay $130K to dentist

The federal court has ordered Dental Care and its owners to pay $130,000 in damages that a jury awarded to their former dentist, Dr. Masha Maxim, who filed a lawsuit over her termination.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona, however, also ordered Maxim to pay one of the clinic’s owners, Scott Thompson, $62,000 that the same jury found her liable for slapping him.

As the parties agreed, Manglona said the $130,000 should be offset by the $62,000 judgment.

Manglona said the remaining balance on the judgment in favor of Dr. Maxim, with interest as of Oct. 23, 2014, should be $68,239.22.

The judge ordered Dental Care, Thompson, and Rod Stewart to pay the amount in four equal payments, through Maxim’s counsel Steven Nutting’s client trust account.

The defendants agreed to pay Dr. Maxim $17,059.80 on Feb. 13, Aug. 14, and Nov. 15 in 2014; and on Feb. 12, 2016.

The trial was held in August 2011. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the verdict.
