Guevarra, Muna rule darts blind draw tourney

The tandem of Albert Guevarra and Alfred Muna ruled the SEDA Bud Light awards banquet blind draw dart tournament held last Sunday at the PIC-Saipan’s Charley’s Cabaret.

Guevarra and Muna bested 15 other pairs and defeated Alfred Hocog and Allan Dellica in the finals to claim the championship trophies and share the $320 cash that goes with it.

The duo opened up its title bid by dispatching Ton Tomokane and Dani Bodig then followed it up with a quarterfinals win over Tony Membrere and Alan Sablan.

Guevarra and Muna next eliminated Arvin Orense and Jose Ororsco to clinch a semis berth in their bracket where they faced Carter Calma and Joey Songsong. They then beat Calma and Songsong to secure a spot in the championship match.

Calma and Songsong had to get past the teams of Hank Magofna and Vince Sablan, Carl Hocog and Ansen Jones, and Bobby Castro and Modie Zamora to get into the semis.

Dellica and Alfred Hocog, meanwhile, defeated the pairs of Jeff Barit and Kevin Villamogez, James Benavente and Boom Cruz, Nestor Abing and Claro Bicol, and Ben Aguon and Rico Dela Cruz.

Dellica and Hocog settled for the $160 runners-up purse, while Barit and Villagomez, and Calma and Songsong went home with $80 each.

Cory Llagas and Sandie Pablo, Arthur Bartolo and Zaldy Quebral, Melvin Camacho and Jun Echaure, Pepe Orola and Sherman Santos, Paul Quizon and Rey Trasporto, Gaius Gille and Mariano Palacios, Ernie Cid and Charlie Dahilig, Renato Barros and Max Castro, Jillian Angeline and Pam Ybanes, George Sablan and Jun Santos, Jun Lambon and Frances Magofna, Sadiri Martin and Greg Perez, Buddy Garote and Omar Quindoza, JM Ong and Leo Wania, Erwin Clavecillas and Dan Repiki, Reggie Borbon and Mike Dela Cruz, Sally Aguon and Luis Ramos, Warlee Ellama and Gilbert Gatmaitan, and Melvin Aldan and Rolly Bermisio were the other competing pairs.

Meanwhile, MARPAC and Smoke Pub were given plaques of appreciation in the awards banquet.

Also honored in the event were Vicenta Sanchez (Ladies), Odin Garces (C Kingfisher), Web Gontar (C Chichirika), Carl Hocog and Fred Salavaria (Thursday Flame Tree), Jhun Echaure (Thursday Fanihi), Chris Omnes (Tuesday B), Freddie Solidum (A), and Jhun Lambon (Masters), who topped their division Hi In event.

The Hi Out division awardees were Mary Louis Blaluk (Ladies), Russ Saimon (C Kingfisher), Rico Dela Cruz (C Chichirika), Dhan Mateo (Thursday Flame Tree), Richard Guanzon (Thursday Fanihi), Renato Barros (Tuesday B), Rolly Bermiso (A), and Rod Osorio (Masters).

The Top Gun champions were Natalie Reyes (Ladies), Joker Camacho (C Kingfisher), Ray Anthony Aguon (C Chichirika), Darf Bodig (Thursday Flame Tree), Jhun Echaure (Thursday Fanihi), Renato Barros (Tuesday B), Blaren Castro (A), and Anie Legaspi (Masters).
