Probable cause found to charge man of beating, stabbing mom
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman found probable cause yesterday to warrant the filing of five charges against Jaron Ronald for stabbing and beating his mother at their home in Kagman III.
At a preliminary hearing, Wiseman found probable cause to charge the 24-year-old Ronald with assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery, senior citizen physical abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Arraignment will be on Feb. 2 at 9am.
At the hearing, assistant attorney general Chester Hinds called to the witness stand police detective Vincent A. Igisaiar, who related the circumstances leading to Ronald’s arrest.
Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for Ronald.
Ronald had claimed that his mother got injured after falling from her bed but police later determined that he actually stabbed her with a knife and beat her up at their home last Jan. 21.
Police said the victim sustained two lacerations on the right forehead and bruises on the right eye and cheek, right arm and right hand. Her fingers were swollen and bruised, and her right leg was also bruised.
The police report and the first amended information did not indicate the victim’s age but described her as a man’amko.
