Mount Carmel School will be joining Catholic schools across the nation in observing Catholic Schools Week.
Catholic Schools Week is an annual national celebration of the important role that Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the country play in providing values-added education for America’s young people. It is a key part of the yearlong National Marketing Campaign for Catholic Schools.
Catholic schools are proud of their educational network that emphasizes intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical, and social values in their students.
A proclamation signing tomorrow will mark the beginning of the Catholic Schools Week celebration from Jan. 29 to Feb. 5.
This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.”
“The theme focuses on three priorities that Catholic schools establish that make them stand out from other educational institutions. Children are taught faith – not just the basics of Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God. Academics, which in Catholic schools are held to very high standards, help each child reach his or her potential. Service, the giving of one’s time and effort to help others, is taught both as an expression of faith and good citizenship,” the National Catholic Educational Association explained in its website.
