Filipinos and other Saipan residents attended the Sunday Mass at San Jose Church that was celebrated by Rev. Father Rey Rosal to mark the papal visit in the Philippines.
The event was spearheaded by Dr. Celia Lamkin, chairperson of the US Pinoys for Good Governance Marianas chapter and Global Filipino Diaspora Marianas for CNMI and Guam, in collaboration with Fr. Rey Rosal, so that Filipinos in the Commonwealth can be a part of the papal visit despite their physical absence in the Philippines.
The Mass was attended by more than a hundred Filipinos and several local residents.
“ I am very thankful to Rev. Father Rey Rosal and to all the members, volunteers, supporters of the USP4GG, GFDM Marianas chapter and the members of Saipan community,” said Lamkin.
Rosal echoed the theme of the papal visit “Mercy and Compassion.”
“Let us continue to love one another, help and support each other, and let us have mercy and compassion especially for those who are suffering and in pain, the poor and the needy,” said Rosal. (USP4GG)
