Guam Guard gets new adjutant general
WASHINGTON, D.C. —Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo issued the following statement yesterday on the selection of Col. Roderick R. Leon Guerrero as the next Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard.
“I congratulate Col. Roderick R. Leon Guerrero on his selection as the next Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard. I have worked closely with Col. Leon Guerrero over the years, and I am confident that his institutional knowledge and leadership will serve the Guam National Guard well over the coming years. Gov. Calvo had a large pool of qualified officers to choose from to lead the Guam National Guard because of the efforts of MG Donald Goldhorn to develop future leaders. He was able to develop this pool of future leaders, in part, because of the Guard Empowerment legislation that I supported.
“Additionally, I extend my sincere appreciation to Maj. Gen. Benny Paulino for his years of service to our island and nation. Major. Gen. Paulino has been an invaluable partner in support of our Guard members. During his most recent time as TAG, he oversaw the largest deployment of Guam guardsmen in the history of the Guam National Guard to support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I wish him the best in his retirement.” (Office of the Delegate)
