Fielders 2's Davin Ada dives back to first base in Saturday's SML Summer/Fall Youth Baseball match against Fielders 1 at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield. (Walter Sutherland) Fielders 2 grinded out a pair of wins in its doubleheader on Saturday as the Saipan Major League Baseball Association’s Youth Summer/Fall season picked back up at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

Fielders 2 edged out Titanium, 2-1, in the opener and went on to rally over sister team Fielders 1, 4-3, in the afternoon tiff.

Notably, due to a shortage of players the Kagman Lions were forced to forfeit the second matchup to the Ol’Aces, however, the Lions are expected to recruit more players to help them compete this week.

Weather permitting, the season continues at Tan Ko field this Saturday; starting off with a 9am rematch featuring Fielders 2 and Titanium followed by a take-two between Ol’Aces and Kagman Lions at 11:30am. Then it is Titanium’s turn to pull double duty as they clash with Fielders 1 at 2pm.

After a pair of scoreless innings, visiting Titanium broke the ice in the top of the third inning with a run off two hits.

Ton Guerrero reached on a one-out single. He then stole second base and was driven home by Jerald Cabrera.

Fielders 2 drew a blank in the bottom frame and both teams went 1-2-3 in the fourth inning.

Titanium was stuffed again to start the fifth inning and Fielders 2 pulled ahead in the bottom of the frame, 2-1.

Kyle Hocog led off with a base knock and was sacrificed into scoring position. Kainoa Wanket brought him home with a single and later scored himself off an error.

Titanium went three up and three down for the third time in a row in the sixth inning and was denied access past second base in its final stand.

Kainoa Wanket gave up an earned run in four innings off three hits and a strikeout.

Both teams held each other in check until the fifth inning when the home team, Fielders 1 took a 2-0 lead off three hits.

Carl Camacho provided the spark with a lead off single. Arthur Jebehn followed suit with a double; Camacho advanced to the plate off an errant throw from the outfield.

Jebehn would score soon after off a wild pitch.

Fielders 2 answered in the top of the sixth knotted the game at 2-all.

Khobby Kaipat reached on a fielder’s choice and moved into scoring position when Ian Rogolifoi drew a free pass.

Fielders 2 then worked a double-steal that set up a two-RBI single by Marvin Ngeskebei.

Fielders 1 did not blink and reclaimed the lead, 3-2, off errors in the bottom frame. However, its rival fired back with two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Davin Ada belted a one-out single and went to second after an ensuing walk.

Then ninth batter Nate Guerrero crushed a clutch two-RBI single, but was left stranded at third base.

Fielders 1 came up lame in its final stand.

Winning pitcher Kainoa Wanket pitched four scoreless innings and gave up three hits with a strikeout.
