KC Lynn T. Barcinas, a resident of the island of Rota, was selected to officially enter the Hawaii Job Corps Center on Jan. 13, 2015, to pursue career technical training at the Waimanalo Campus. In an interview with a Department of Labor-Workforce Investment Agency case manager, Barcinas provided the following statements:

“Where I stand is a tough place and, without sacrifice and determination, where will I stand in this world? Probably nowhere. It’s hard knowing I have to leave everything behind but that is life and a choice I have to make if I want a good life. Thanks to Job Corp, they gave me a chance to experience an opportunity of a lifetime. I graduated high school early, not knowing what I was going to do next so as of now my goal is to experience the world beyond me and hopefully make a good life out of it.
“I want to thank the Lord for guiding me all this way, my family for supporting me, the people who helped me get into the Job Corps, and to my 1-year-old daughter who is my sacrifice and determination to make a better living and hopefully give her the chance to experience youth the way I wished I had. I’m doing this for us.”
On behalf of the entire CNMI Department of Labor, we congratulate KC Lynn and wish her all the best in her endeavor. In addition, we would like to thank the staff of the Rota Liaison Office for their assistance in providing lodging and transportation for Barcinas while she transits on to her connecting flights.
